Water is a combination of two basic elements, hydrogen and oxygen. In pure water, unhealthy substances and particles have been efficiently reduced so the water tastes good and is free of color and odor.
Osmosis is a natural phenomenon in which a liquid - water, in this case - passes through a semi-permeable membrane from a relatively dilute solution toward a more concentrated solution. This flow produces a measurable pressure, called osmotic pressure. If pressure is applied to the more concentrated solution, and if that pressure exceeds the osmotic pressure, water flows through the membrane from the more concentrated solution toward the dilute solution. This process, called reverse osmosis, or RO, removes up to 99% of dissolved minerals, and virtually 100% of colloidal and suspended matter. RO produces high quality water at low cost compared to other purification processes. THE OZONE TREATMENT PROCEDURE Ozone is the strongest oxidant of the common disinfecting agents. Today it is the most commonly used disinfection process in Europe. One important reason is that only oxygen is added to organic compounds, so few of the products are considered to be health hazards. A wider spectrum of organisms is destroyed by ozone than chlorine and removal of the taste and odors is excellent. Ozone is used in the same manner as chlorine. The major difference being, ozone is unstable so cannot be produced and transported to the point of use. It must be generated at the point of use. For water treatment ozone is produced by an electrical corona discharge or ultraviolet irradiation of dry air or oxygen. Ozone can be injected or diffused into the water supply system. At Chilliwack Water Store our source of water is provided by the city of Chilliwack. Water proceeds through an activated charcoal filter and ion exchange water softeners, is filtered through a 1 micron prefilter prior to the Reverse Osmosis system. Water in storage is treated using ultra violet light and ozone before being bottled. Within hours after the bottling procedure the ozone breaks down to form oxygen.
We use a Norland automatic bottle washer c/w a semi automatic bottle filler and capper. Our three stage wash/rinse/sanitizing process insures that the bottle you bring in are clean and ready for refilling. At Chilliwack Water Store we make sure that the water that leaves our store is the safest available for you and your family to drink. From the point that you bring your bottle for refilling, to the time you leave our premises, our in-store process will achieve that goal.
